Well-being in the Early Years

At EIS, our mission is to provide well-being and high-quality learning, contributing to varied success and a better world for all. We envision developing aspirational learners, inspirational leaders, and innovative thinkers who are globally-minded happy humans from the early years. Prioritising well-being as a core element of our Early Years Program, we focus on our young learners’ social-emotional development and needs.

Fostering Emotional Well-Being Through Purposeful Activities

1. Calming Center with Breathing and Mindfulness Activities

Our EY classrooms feature calming centres, providing children with a safe space to regulate their emotions. Through simple breathing exercises and mindfulness activities, young minds learn to centre themselves.

2. Storytelling to Boost Confidence

Engaging read-aloud sessions connect learners to real-life scenarios, helping them build a foundation for emotional well-being by understanding story characters’ feelings and actions.

3. Circle Time Activities

Circle time activities, including mirror talk, create a space for children to explore their identity and develop a healthy sense of self-esteem. Open discussions about feelings and uniqueness enhance self-awareness, fostering a supportive community.

4. Sessions by our School counsellors on Socio-Emotional Needs

Dedicated sessions by counsellors on socio-emotional needs help explore self-regulation strategies, enabling our young learners to navigate emotional zones like the yellow (happy) and green (calm) zones.

5. Self-Regulation Toolkit

Senior Kindergarten learners collaboratively created a self-regulation toolkit, incorporating strategies such as taking a walk, listening to music, and reading a book to positively channel their energy.

6. Free Play Morning Centres

Our sensory corner in EY classes focuses on play-based resources for young learners to manage emotions. Sensory balls, sand tracing, and squishy toys engage children constructively, fostering emotional well-being.

7. Nurturing a Positive Environment

Together, we are committed to nurturing a positive and supportive environment for our children to thrive emotionally and socially. Our dedication to social-emotional learning is reflected in Arya’s story.

Arya’s Journey: A Glimpse into Varied Success

Arya, a Junior Kindergarten student, exemplifies the learner profile ‘Goal-oriented.’ Starting with nursery goal setting, Arya aspired to improve her nail-painting skills. By Junior Kindergarten, she showcased courage by painting her teacher’s nails with her favourite colour, demonstrating the achievement of her goal. The smile on her face speaks volumes about our commitment to seeing children achieve their goals.

At EIS, we believe in varied success for our happy humans, and Arya’s story is just one example of the countless achievements we witness in our nurturing environment. Join us in cultivating emotional well-being and setting the stage for a lifetime of success for our young learners.
