Philosophy

Accredited by the International Baccalaureate Organization (IBO), we have a strong academic focus with rich extracurricular opportunities. Our dedicated and talented faculty work together to develop our unique curriculum and ensure a friendly learning environment where everyone can belong. All teachers serve as mentors to their students – nurturing intellectual growth, character formation, and socio-emotional wellbeing.

Our EIS Learner Profile places students at the center of the educational process. In other words, we foster ‘student agency’. To achieve this, we keep teachers’ workloads at a level where every student’s interests and needs can be known. Additionally, we have developed a comprehensive set of teaching standards that are grounded in current educational research on what works best for learning. 

Our educational approaches include: 

  • personalising teaching and curriculum
  • making student work the center of classroom activity
  • creating a classroom culture that is built on trust and respect for all
  • designing activities and assessments to make students’ thinking visible
  • ensuring that students receive (and act upon) a steady supply of high-quality feedback
  • giving feedback along a continuum that moves students toward (or beyond) mastery
  • providing opportunities for students to express themselves and celebrate their learning

Our teachers not only invest in their students’ personal development and academic achievement, they also commit to one another’s professional learning, through collaboration and as ‘critical friends’. In this context, our Professional Learning Coordinators run weekly training sessions to support our faculty in mastering the best approaches to teaching. Although perfection is an ideal that can never be attained, we are absolutely committed to the pursuit of excellence.
